I’m struggling to understand what your issue is with the “expand section” template on the “Playing career” section is. He played for 15 years before becoming a manager, but this section is covered in two sentences whereas his 20-year managerial career takes up over 3/4 of the text. In fact, the lead section says more about his career than the actual Playing career section. The article should present a balanced coverage of his whole career, which at present it doesn’t. Could you please explain your reasoning?
As for your recent edit and summary, please behave sensibly. The addition of a single word hardly constitutes an ”expansion“, and there is no question of the template “defacing” the article. The templates are there to encourage editors to make contributions to improve the article and, thus, Wikipedia as a whole.

- @Daemonickangaroo2018: It is over seven years since that particular boilerplate was added and the section has been expanded since then. If you feel the need to add a current boilerplate, then give it a current date, although I would ask you who are you trying to inform and what are you trying to achieve? My own understanding of boiler plates is that the defacing of the article is meant to motivate authors to edit to remove the eyesore. If that particular IP was you then it would be helpful to know in talk your specific beef to prevent future editors arguing over the spirit or the letter of your requirements. Accepted that this is only my opinion but some boilerplates are a bit of a nonsense. As you have noted it only takes one word to expand the article and, as in this particular case, two sentences to substantially expand by doubling the sentence count. It is just so arbitary - for instance Bryan Wade's career information is sparser but he has no boilerplate. JorgeLaArdilla (talk) 11:37, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
